Moon Tea

Well it's a full moon and time to make some moon tea.
For you day dwellers this is quite different from the sun tea your Friends have raved about for years.
start with a clean 1 gallon jug place about 12 tea bags (yes I am a teabagger) in the bottom and fill with clean spring water. place this out side in full moon light till the morning and then remove to the back of your cave (56*)and chill.

at your option you can remove the spent tea bags and add to the compost pile after removing the staples from the bags.
at this point it is ready to drink, I like a bit of honey with mine (raw proffered)
I use a black tea (after all I am a Black Bear) and process My tea in full moonlight till I drag my dusty old hide out in the morning.
I process several while the moon shines and keep them stacked in the back of the cave (coldest spot) till needed.
I recomend this process and hope you enjoy it to.

pea time

Blooms on the vines

We got peas in the pod
Pods are just showing a little filling

When plants started up I tied strings to top of grid and draped them down,

then used Popsicle / craft sticks to hold down the ends in the dirt.
So far the strings seem to be staying in place, time will tell.

Got greens ??

So far this has been an excellent try at growing things with minimal dirt.

The watering system is NOT working the way I had intended it to how ever I believe with a tad more pressure it will work better, so next time I'll set it higher up for a stronger gravity flow.

The lettuce did better than I expected and with a bit of rethinking and a small greenhouse could be doable all year long.

"Yeller" squash is doing real well also I will however set up a bit of shade for them next year and with an improved watering system I expect them to really produce.

We have been wondering if we are to close to Oak Ridge (the nuke plant)

update

OK after a lonnnnng absence I am updating this

I had some trouble in the transplanting of the started seeds thy ( failed to thrive ) for some reason I am trying something different this time so we will see how thy do

We have squash growing good and I have already had a mess of greens

the watering system is not working as i had hoped so later I'll try setting it up differently

right now for the tomatoes I am using direct water and some sand filled spikes that use a 2 Ltr. bottle

I moved the started Pete pellets directly in to bigger pots and returned them to the plastic shelter and am going to hit them with some fertiliser

Chrissy likes the garden BUT only at night. This is Her coming to get me back in during the heat of the day. well as the Indians say " only Mad doge and English men go out in the noonday sun

Soom of the plants in the kiddy pool
part of the 9 pack of tomaters from a local grocery

Cucumbers in the other pool

Aftre all this is the volinter state ( come up from last year )
